Interested in serving on the Young Alumni Council?
The Young Alumni Council (YAC) is an elected body of former students who have graduated from Texas A&M University within the last 10 years. Their purpose is to act as official ambassadors for The Association of Former Students and serve as a sounding board for their demographic to Texas A&M University and The Association, by assessing and recommending programs and tactics that promote the mission, values, vision and strategic plans of these institutions.
The Young Alumni Council’s goals are:
- To provide opportunities and events for Young Alumni with programmatic emphasis on social networking, community service and career development;
- To foster a spirit of involvement and participation amongst Young Alumni; and
- To encourage engagement with constituencies across the university and The Association of Former Students that best meet the needs of the Young Alumni population.
As official volunteers of The Association of Former Students, the Young Alumni Council is made up of three committees and 42 total members. The duties of Young Alumni Council members are outlined in their respective committee’s scope of work and shall include, but shall not be limited to, participation in Young Alumni-specific programming; representation of the Council and The Association at A&M events; financial contribution to The Association; and performing any other duties necessary for the successful execution of the mission of the Young Alumni Council.
