One of our favorite traditions is gathering for Aggie Muster, and we will do so once again on April 21st of this year.  For 2021, we are honored to have as our keynote speaker, Major (MAJ) Brian Mosley ’98, whose distinguished career spans across Texas A&M University, the U.S. Army, U.S. National Guard, and includes several military awards and honors, including earning his Green Beret.

While attending Texas A&M University, Brian was a member of Company D-2 and graduated from the Mays College of Business with a finance degree. Upon graduation in 1999, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Branching Infantry, and was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division, at Fort Bragg, NC. During his time in the 82nd, he served as an Infantry Platoon Leader, Infantry Company Executive Officer, Scout Platoon Leader, and Battalion Operations Officer. Brian attended Special Forces Assessment and Selection, and was selected to join the Special Forces Regiment in 2003. Upon completing training and earning his Green Beret in 2004, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, where he commanded Special Forces Operational Detachment – A (SFODA or “A-Team”) 713 and served as the Battalion Future Plans Officer and Battalion Operations Officer. During his time in 7th Group, Brian conducted numerous deployments to Central and South America and two combat deployments to Afghanistan. In 2007, Brian was selected for early promotion to Major and was one of just four officers chosen by the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Special Warfare Center and School to train new Special Forces officers. From 2009 to 2010, he attended the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI, and earned a master’s degree in National Defense and Strategic Studies, graduating in the top 5% of his class. Following graduation, he returned to Ft. Bragg and assumed command of Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group and deployed to Afghanistan as the Commander of AOB 3330 until 2012. Soon after, Brian left active duty to attend Duke University and earned an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business in 2014. Following his time on active duty, Brian continued his military service in the National Guard and served as the Battalion Operations Officer of 3rd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group, Florida National Guard until he transitioned to the Inactive Ready Reserve in 2018. In 2014, Brian moved home to Dallas, Texas and began a career as an investment banker, advising clients on corporate finance matters, mergers and acquisitions, until he co-founded an oilfield service company in 2019. Brian currently lives in Dallas with Sabrina, c/o ’98 and his wife of 20 years, and their three daughters, Emma, Kinley, and Sophia.

Major Mosley’s military awards and honors include the Bronze Star Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Joint Meritorious Unit Award (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (with 2 Campaign Stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Infantrymen Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Special Forces Tab, Ranger Tab, and Senior Parachutist Badge.
