Michael "Mike" Carl '78

Michael J. 'Mike' Carl '78, 58, of New Braunfels (formerly of Houston) died Aug. 1, 2009. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, last serving as a radar specialist in Beaufort, S.C. He worked two years at Texas Instruments in Sugar Land and part-time at the Wimberley View before moving to College Station to complete his degree in journalism. He moved to League City where he worked for Ford Aerospace writing technical documentation manuals for the space shuttle project beginning at NASA. He then moved to Buda and worked for Wide-Lite in San Marcos for 22 years, from field engineer to national sales manager. He moved to New Braunfels in 1983. He started his own landscape lighting business, Landscape Lighting Concepts, in 2001, later scaling back and working for the Scooter Store and Jana Corp. He joined his wife in her real estate business in 2007 in Team No Limits, associated with Keller Williams Heritage in New Braunfels. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Kathy; a son; two daughters, including Bethany A. (Carl) Kraft '01; three grandchildren; a brother; and four sisters.
