Texas A&M’s student Class Councils have added Young Alumni former student Class years (2012-2022) to their popular “Upperclassman Sweatshirts” sale, a fundraiser that started in 2021.
The sweatshirts have appliquéd letters spelling “TAMU” sewn onto on the front and similarly appliquéd Class years on the sleeve. Demand for them has been high among students since the project began as a way to help unite the Class of ’22 juniors during the COVID-19 pandemic and raise Class funds. Class of ’21 shirts followed for the seniors; sales were brisk, and a new tradition was born.
“Almost every former student we have talked to about this project has told us they would love to have one of their own for their Class,” said Cole Murphy '23, executive chair of Class Councils.
Classes of 2012 through 2022 shirts are available for $60 in the sale at tx.ag/CCUpperclassman that ends Oct. 28, while the student junior and senior Class year shirts (’23 and ’24) are $45. Murphy said the cost difference partly reflects the ability to bulk-order expected ’23 and ’24 sales, and a desire to keep the cost low for current students.

More Class years could be offered in future sales. Former students can give feedback on what Class years they’d like to see by filling out a short form at tx.ag/CCUpperclassmaninput, Murphy said.
Profits from this year’s ’23 and ’24 shirt sales will support senior and junior Class programs, and 2012-2022 shirt profits will support Class Councils programs for all current students.
That includes events for freshmen and sophomores such as Fish Fest and Pull Out Day, as well as longer-standing traditions such as Elephant Walk.
Read about these traditions and others in the upcoming November-December 2022 issue of The Association’s Texas Aggie magazine. Class Councils and Class programs receive support every year from donations made to The Association.
