They met because of an A&M decal on a car and an invitation to Aggie Muster.
Texas A&M’s newly announced Aggie Parents of the Year, Shelly ’87 and Rodney ’87 Moss of Southlake, have four children, all Aggies: Hannah '17, Ian ’18, Olivia ’20 and Sophie ’21.
Fate brought the couple together in 1991. While living in Birmingham, Ala., Rodney noticed a car with an Association of Former Students Century Club decal and left a note on it with the hopes that the owner would participate in Muster with him. Shelly, after much deliberation, responded to the note. They met for Muster that year and have been together ever since.
They were nominated for Parents of the Year by Olivia, who described them as “showing me what it means to not only be a student here, but a member of the Aggie family. There is no greater school, and there are no greater parents.”
