Bio
Howdy! I am John Harrison, class of 2003. I grew up in Wharton, TX, and after graduating High School in 1999 I headed to Texas A&M University. I was a member of the Corps of Cadets in Company I-1, Army ROTC, Rudders Rangers, Corps Recruiting Officer on Corps Staff and served on the Corps Honor Board. I graduated with a BS in Agricultural Economics and commissioned into the Army as an Infantry Officer in 2004. I married a 2003 Aggie classmate, Jennifer Hoffman, who graduated with a BS in Wildlife and Fisheries Science. I started my Army career working as a Gold Bar Recruiter in the Trigon at Texas A&M for the Army ROTC department. Just a few months later I attended Infantry Officer Basic Training at Ft. Benning, GA. Upon completion I was assigned to 2nd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, HI. There I had the jobs of a Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Operations Officer. I competed many training deployments in preparation for a 15 month deployment to Iraq. After that deployment I applied and transferred over to the aviation branch where I attended flight school at Ft. Rucker, AL to become a Black Hawk Pilot. After flight school, my first duty assignment as an aviator was K16 Airbase in Seoul, South Korea. In my three years stationed there I became a Pilot in Command, Unit Trainer, and Instructor Pilot. From South Korea I applied and was invited to assess for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR). I was successful and arrived to the 160th in 2014. Since becoming a Nightstalker I have become a Fully Mission Qualified Pilot, Maintenance Test Pilot, Instructor Pilot, Developmental Test Pilot, and Safety Officer in an MH60M helicopter. During this time my wife and I have raised 4 children and have traveled to Texas to be with family and attend events at Texas A&M as much as we could. During my military career I have been a principle owner and operator of a successful commercial real estate company and involved in cattle ranching. I will retire in July of 2024 from the Army with 9 combat deployments. My plans are to pursue a career in commercial aviation and move to the DFW area. We are very excited about our next chapter in life and hope it includes serving the class of 2003!
