DUNCANVILLE Randy Burdick, 53, passed away on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at home, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tues., Jan. 13, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery in Robertson County.

Randy was born on April 21, 1955, in Edmond, Okla. to Melvin and Geneva Burdick. They lived in New Mexico during Randy's early childhood and moved to Kermit when he was six. He attended the public schools of Kermit until his senior year, graduating from Odessa Permian High School in 1973. He earned an Associate's degree from Odessa College and went on to Texas A&M University, completing a BS in Technical Education in 1977 and a Master's in Educational Technology in 1978. While completing his education, Randy worked summers as a roustabout in the West Texas oil fields. He and Margie Lincecum met at Texas A&M and were married on campus in June 1981. His family was the center of Randy's life and he was proud of his children for their achievements. His favorite destination was the mountains of either Colorado or New Mexico and looked forward to fishing in the rivers and lakes there.

From 1979-83 Randy worked for TEEX as an instructor for their Electronics Training Division. The next 25 years were spent working in the power protection industry first for International Power Machines (IPM) from 1983-2000. In 2000 he started his own company, Complete Power Technology. Among professionals in the field, Randy was known for his honesty and integrity as well as his skill and experience.

Randy was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his father; wife; son Kevin; daughter Dana; and sister Cindy Tarr and husband Ken of Odessa.

The way he handled his sudden battle with pancreatic cancer confirmed to all who knew him that he had remarkable personal strength.

Melvin R. "Randy" Burdick '77, 53, of Dallas (formerly of New Mexico and Kermit) died Jan. 9, 2009, of pancreatic cancer. He worked for the Texas Engineering Extension Service electronics training division for four years before working for 25 years in the power protection industry. He owned Complete Power Technology since 2000. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Margie Lincecum Burdick '81; a son, a daughter, Dana C. Burdick '12; his father; and a sister.
