Benjamin Allen '39 February 2, 2007 12:00 AM

Benjamin A. "Bennie" Allen '39, 89, of College Station (formerly of Piedmont and Peach Creek) died Sept. 24, 2006. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked for North American Aviation in Dallas where he helped build the first P-51 Mustang airplane. He was a jet mechanics instructor for the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. He retired to Peach Creek and continued ranching. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Evelyn; a son, Melvin B. Allen '71; a daughter; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother; and three sisters.
