John P. Benes '50, 86, of Baytown died Aug. 14, 2008. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II aboard the USS Medusa. He was a rice farmer, cattleman and crawfish farmer. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lula; a son, John T. Benes '79; a daughter; and two grandchildren.
