Roll Call Tribute

Wayne Dunlap '51 September 3, 2009 12:00 AM

Wayne A. Dunlap '51, 78, of Bryan (formerly of Charles City, Iowa and New Orleans) died Sept. 1, 2009. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Spencer Buchanan & Associates in London for two years before returning to Texas A&M to complete a doctorate in civil engineering. He became an assistant professor while completing his degree, spent a post-doctoral year at the Imperial College of London and was associate professor upon his return to Texas A&M. He became professor in 1977 and retired in 2003 as professor emeritus of civil engineering. He was recognized for his research in offshore technology and for his expert teaching and mentoring abilities. Survivors include his wife, Jill; a son; a daughter, Donna J. Dunlap '90; and a grandson. Memorials may be made to support the Jill and Wayne Dunlap '51 Scholarship in Civil Engineering and sent to the Texas A&M Foundation, 401 George Bush Drive, College Station TX 77840-2811.
