Glenn Gilliam Garrison

April 22, 1950 - December 28, 2024

Glenn Gilliam Garrison of D’Hanis, Texas, age 74, passed away peacefully at home early Saturday morning, December 28, 2024.

Born April 22, 1950, in Hondo, Texas he was the son of Marcellus R. Garrison, Sr. and Florine “Renie” Gilliam Garrison.

Glenn grew up on the family ranch at Tarpley, graduated Hondo High School Class of 1968, and earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Agriculture degrees from Texas A&M University before returning home to begin his ranching career.

Glenn poured his heart into running a successful ranching operation, finding immense joy and respect in working the land and running cattle. His innovative spirit shone as he became the first person to bring portable traffic systems to Texas. He also spent many Saturdays working at the Hondo Livestock Sale Barn, mentoring the next generation of cowboys and sharing his wisdom.

Glenn loved being around people, was passionate about ranching, hunting and fishing, and sharing his knowledge with others. He found joy in life’s simplest moments.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter and son-in-law, Jordan and Troy Allen.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Lora Neuman Garrison; son, Lance Fabian Garrison (Megan); stepsons, Donnie Woodbury and Dustin Woodbury (Ester); grandchildren, Jackson and Eli Allen, Jayce, Addie and Arly Woodbury, and Brooke and Conor Woodbury; and sister, Marcy Rothe.

Family and friends will gather to visit and share memories on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Hondo Methodist Church. Celebration of his life will be on Friday, Jan. 3, 10 a.m., also at Hondo Methodist Church.
