From Michigan Medicine:
Michigan Neurosurgery has lost a family member and neurosurgery has lost one of the most talented, influential, and inspiring women in Neurosurgery. The impact she had on our department, our patients, and the many learners she nurtured over the last 18 years
is incalculable.
Dr. Yang was an alumna of our residency program and a world-renowned peripheral nerve neurosurgeon who had led the formation of an unparalleled multidisciplinary brachial plexus program. She had guided the development of many multidisciplinary programs within
the Department of Neurosurgery.
She mentored many who are now leaders of peripheral nerve neurosurgery programs within the United States. She had recently accepted the role of Director of Clinical Outcomes Research for U-M Neurosurgery and was looking forward to mentoring our new faculty.
We will soon come together to celebrate and honor Dr. Yang’s life and career and the impact she has had on many generations as leader of the Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerve Program. We will share details of how we aim to honor her career in the near future.
