Charles Ray Phillips
October 14, 1933 - December 26, 2020
Charles Ray Phillips passed away in a Houston hospital on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at the age of 87 years. He was born on October 14, 1933, in Stephenville, Texas, to Charles Rucker Phillips and Mildred Marie Green Phillips. Upon high school graduation, Charles enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and married his high school sweetheart, Norma Lu Young. During this time he was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington.
Following his enlistment in the Air Force, Charles enrolled at Texas A&M University. Upon his graduation with a degree in business, he went to work for Exxon. Charles then went to night school at the South Texas College of Law, becoming an attorney specializing in tax law. In addition to his love of law and accounting was fishing, church, and most importantly his family.
Being a religious man, he became a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Spring Branch, where he helped with their youth group program.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norma L. Phillips; daughters, Sandy Skarritt and Vicki Hilton; grandsons, Colton Conn and Zachary Dodson; and a great grandson, Beaux Conn.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2021, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway Chapel, in Katy, with Dr. Charles Wisdom officiating.
