Mary Catherine "Cathy" (Cartwright) Martin
January 7, 1964 - October 9, 2021
Mary Catherine “Cathy” (Cartwright) Martin (’86) was born January 7, 1964, in Knox City to Al (’46) and Mary Cartwright of Munday. She attended Munday public schools where she graduated with honors in 1982. Cathy was active in numerous academic and extracurricular activities including: Senior Class President, National Honor Society, Band, Flag Corp, One Act Play, FHA officer and others.
It is often said that a person is fortunate to amass three or four true friends in a lifetime, but Cathy was the exception to that adage, having dozens and dozens of true-blue friends, hundreds of acquaintances and hundreds more who were inspired by her valiant fight against Ovarian Cancer for over 13 years and her successful career as a Software Engineering Manager at a major defense facility. Her cancer fight, and successful career, are merely adjuncts to her unapologetic Christian Life, a shining example for hundreds and hundreds.
Cathy attended Texas A&M University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 1986. From college, she went to work for E-Systems and stayed with the same company, through a myriad of ownership and name changes, her entire career. It was at A&M that she and David (’86) met. She and David later married December 15, 2012.
Cathy is survived by her husband David of Heath; mother-in-law Marge Clement; son Randall and wife Dani of Waxahachie; son Phillip and wife Ashley of Fort Worth; daughter Katherine ('13) of Waxahachie and daughter Samantha (’13) of Dallas. She was a very proud “Mimi” to her 6 grandchildren; Maddisen, Jensen, Luke, Zoey, Rachel and Sara. Cathy is also survived by her brother Lou Cartwright and wife Janis of Austin. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jim (’79) and sister Lisa.
