Roll Call Tribute

John Collison '55 January 18, 2022 2:40 PM updated: January 18, 2022 3:40 PM

John M. Collison
March 23, 1933 - November 25, 2021

John M. Collison departed this earth for other surrounds on November 25th, 2021, after determining that he had little left to contribute to a society that seemed hell-bent on destroying itself from within, and could do so without his participation.

The only child of John Pryde McNeal Collison and Rose Anna McEvilly Collison, he was born and raised in Texas, graduated from Texas A&M University, class of '55, and went on to earn two undergraduate and two graduate degrees. He contributed thirty plus years of his life, in uniform, to the service of his country, retiring as a Colonel of Combat Arms; the twenty-five years thereafter to the corporate world, and always to his family. In these pursuits, he enjoyed the company of many others who shared a life view similar to his own, personified by the Latin phrase, Carpe Diem. His life in all of these endeavors was spent living and working in Europe, most countries in what we commonly call the Middle East, and many of the states within the continental limits of the US, doing the kind of work in environments that offered challenges, opportunities, and the occasional chance to travel in harm's way.

He is survived in this life by his first and only wife of 58 years, Rose Marie White Collison, a son, John Alexander Collison and three grandsons: Connor Logan Jennings, Ian Maclean Pryde Collison, and Evan Alexander Carney Collison all of whom reside in Phoenix, AZ; and, a daughter, Mary Catherine Maclean Collison in Chicago IL.

The family has asked that those who wish may contribute to any charitable organizations of their choosing that embody the beliefs the deceased has lived by in his life on this earth.
