John H. Reese of Dallas, Texas passed away March 1, 2018. John was born October 20, 1960 in Port Lavaca, Texas. He graduated with honors in 1979 from Calhoun High School. He attended Texas A&M University from fall 1979 graduating Cum Laude in May 1983 with a BBA in Finance.

John went to work in the private sector for 5 years before returning to school at The University of Texas at Austin in spring 1988 graduating with honors from the McCombs School of Business with an MBA in finance.

John spent most of his career working with the FDIC, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Dallas sector. At the time of his death, he was employed as an Oversight Manager at the Dallas office of the FDIC.

John is survived by his wife, Elsa Denise Reyes, who also graduated from Texas A&M University in May 1983. John and Denise met in their junior year, fall 1981 in a marketing class they were both enrolled in. When Denise discovered he was a finance major, she asked him to be her tutor and a lifelong friendship began. John and Denise found each other and love nine years ago. Together they enjoyed life sharing the friendship and love they discovered as young students at Texas A&M University. They also loved football season watching both Aggies and Longhorns games.

John was a role model and guide to his stepsons, Alejandro James Portales, TAMU Class of 2015, Electrical Engineering and Andrew Portales. He also enjoyed spending the Thanksgiving Holidays with his daughter Jhoana and her husband David Velazquez and their sons David and Dante Velasquez.

John was known for his youthful attitude, dapper clothing, his quick wit, his ability to tell jokes, and the deep love he had for his friends and family. He was respected, admired, and loved for his work ethic and chivalry by his work family at the FDIC. He is deeply loved and will be forever missed by his family.
