Colonel Frank Newton Price Jr. (Retired-USAF)

Graveside services for Col. Frank N. Price Jr., United States Air Force retired, age 92, of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday, January 6, at 9:30 AM, at East Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery-Governor John Sevier Hwy., Knoxville, Tennessee. Per his wishes,
there will be no public visitation. Col. Price passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015, at NHC Health Care Center in Cookeville.
Col. Price was born February 16, 1923, in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Lois Pemberton and Frank N. Price Sr. and was their only child. He was raised in Denver, Colorado. He was in the ROTC program at Texas A&M prior to entering the Army Air Force in World
War II. He was assigned to the 91st Fighter Squadron, 15th Fighter Group from May 1944, to June 1947. His favorite airplanes to fly were the B-25 and the C-47. He married Barbara Hall February 1945, in Deming, New Mexico. Soon after, he was deployed to the
Hawaiian Islands, and was followed later by Barbara.
Upon leaving active duty, Col. Price studied engineering, under the GI Bill, and received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Colorado. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in the Philippian Islands. He returned
to school to earn a Master’s Degree in engineering from the University of Michigan, after which he reentered the Air Force.
During his military career, Col. Price was stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, in Dayton, Ohio, and at Arnold Engineering Development Center, in Tullahoma, Tennessee. His final duty station was in San Diego, California. He retired from military service
in 1969.
The Price family relocated to Cookeville, Tennessee in March 1970. Col. Price was employed at Fleetguard, division of Cummins Engine Co. until he retired in 1983, as Senior Staff Engineer. After retirement, he pursued his longtime hobby of photography. Col.
Price spent his final years at Heritage Point in Cookeville.
Col. Price was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 58 years, Barbara H. Price, and his daughter, Suellen Price of Knoxville, Tennessee. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Frank N. Price III and Nancy W. Price of Coos Bay, Oregon, and by
son Kenneth Craig (Casey) Price of Cookeville.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Presley Funeral Home for the Cookeville High School ROTC program, or the Cookeville Putnam County Animal Shelter.
