Mark Browne
October 16, 1922 - November 22, 2015
Mark Lucius Browne, Jr., age 93, of San Antonio, Texas, passed from this world into the next on November 22, 2015 at his home. This military veteran of three wars died peacefully in his sleep. Mark Browne was a faithful husband, loving father, grandfather,
great-grandfather and Army infantry commander. He took a keen interest in life applying the wisdom God gave him to help others in war and peace. Mark's passing leaves a deep void in the lives of those he loved and cared about. He was born in San Antonio on
October 16, 1922. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1940 and was in the class of 1944 at Texas A&M University when his schooling was interrupted by military service. He was married to the former Virginia McAnelly, of San Antonio, for 70 wonderful
years. Together they raised four children. Mark was a dedicated soldier of the US Army infantry for over 35 years attaining to the rank of full colonel. He had tours of duty in Germany, Korea and Viet Nam. He was a graduate of the US Army War College, highly
decorated and proudly wore the Combat Infantry Badge for service to his country. Mark was a Life Deacon at Trinity Baptist Church where he and his wife were loyal members for 27 years. He was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and ushered every Sunday until
he was physically unable to continue.
Mark is now reunited with his beloved Virginia in eternity with Christ. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Mark Sr and Edna Browne and his sister, Francis Baird. He leaves four children: Bonnie Combs (Charles) of San Antonio; Mark Browne III (Suzanne)
of Twin Falls, Idaho; Cynthia Passmore (Thomas) of Dallas; and Kathy Browne Aguilar (Vic) of San Antonio. Browne leaves nine grandchildren: Matthew Combs (Jodi) of Rockford, Illinois; Daniel Combs (Michelle) of Portland, Oregon; John Mark Browne (Elizabeth)
of Twin Falls, Idaho; Steven Browne of Boise, Idaho; Benjamin Browne (Korri) of Brooklyn, New York; Emily Dahl (Thor) of San Diego, California; Roderick Passmore (Sarra) of San Diego, California; Jeannette Passmore of Austin, Texas; and Robert Sellers of San
Antonio, Texas. Browne was the proud great grandfather of four great grandsons: Bailey Browne; and Judah, Micah and Ezra Combs.
The memorial service will be held at noon on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at Trinity Baptist Church, 319 E. Mulberry Ave, San Antonio, TX, followed by full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Public viewing will be held one hour before the
