Don Mitchell
June 18, 1928 - September 22, 2013
Don Mitchell, 85, of Texarkana, AR passed away September 22, 2013 at his home. Mr. Mitchell was born June 18, 1928 in Edwardsville, IL. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church; District Director since 1960 of the Miller County Conservation District; member of National Association of Conservation Districts Board of Directors - 1; AACD President; Southwest Arkansas Resource Conservation and Development Council; he was inducted into the AACD Conservation Hall of Fame; and was World Champion Steak Cook Off Champion - 2003.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret "Mike" Mitchell; daughter, Peggy Adcock; and son, Michael Burton Mitchell.
Survivors include his daughters, Mary Helen Mitchell of Texarkana, AR and Eveann George of El Dorado, AR; son, Rusty Mitchell of Texarkana, AR; brother, Leo S. Mitchell of Lubbock, TX; sister, Mary Olive Walker of Irving TX; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at St. James Episcopal Church with Rev. Doug Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Old Rondo Cemetery under the direction of East Funeral Home – Downtown.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2013 at East Funeral Home – Downtown.
