Linda R.
Brinkmann
Linda ReinekeBrinkmann (Linda Louise), aged 61, passed away on Wednesday October 7, 2015 after fiercely fighting ovarian cancer for over five years. Linda was born on November 16, 1953 in Baytown, Texas, daughter of William and the late AlineReineke.
Linda is survived by her loving best friend, Charlie Strauss, her daughter Becky (Chris) Phelan, her son Matt (Lindsay) Brinkmann, and her grandson William Phelan, and her sister Denise (Gary) Fischer. She also leaves behind many loving relatives and friends,
who have become her extended family.
Linda was the salutatorian of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas in 1971. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas A&M in 1974 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Over the years, she worked for Shell Oil Company, Arthur Anderson,
and McDonalds Corporation in financial planning.
She was a member of Saint Helen’s Roman Catholic Church and was involved with the Cornerstone retreats where she built lasting friendships. Once she was diagnosed with cancer she became active in cancer organizations, speaking at events at Carol G. Simon Cancer
Center at Morristown Hospital and mentored newly diagnosed cancer patients. She also participated in fundraiser walks for the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, Kaleidoscope of Hope, and Mary’s Place By the Sea. Mary’s Place, a retreat center for women, became
a beloved sanctuary for peace when she was dealing with the disease.
While she had a passion for traveling, the Jersey Shore, specifically Ocean Grove, became her home. Her greatest joy was sitting in a beach chair, feet in the sand surrounded by her family and friends. Go Beach!
Her viewing is on Monday, October 12, from 5 pm to 8 pm, at Dooley Funeral Home, 556 Westfield Avenue, Westfield, NJ. The funeral mass is at 10 am, on Tuesday, October 13, at St. Helen's Catholic Church, 1600 Rahway Avenue, Westfield, NJ. Burial will follow
at Fairview Cemetery, 1100 East Broad Street, Westfield, NJ.
