Dr. John Allen Miller
Funeral services for Dr. John Allen Miller, 73, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, in Miguez Funeral Home with Dr. Perry Webb officiating.
Funeral home visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m. today, Thursday, and resume at 8 a.m. Friday until time of services.
Dr. Miller died at 11 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2015, in Jennings American Legion Hospital.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
Dr. Miller was a native of Elton and a seven-year resident of Hathaway, retiring here from Kerrville, Texas. He was a retired agricultural engineer. In 1988 he was awarded USDA “Scientist of the Year.” He continued his lifelong passion for agriculture, enjoyed gardening and being involved with First Baptist Church. He loved going to Capitol One to meet with friends and have coffee.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene Curet Miller of Hathaway; one daughter, Cheri Miller Turgeon of Hathaway; one son, Scott Miller of Hathaway; one sister, Priscilla Miller LaFosse of Elton; one brother, JD Miller of Elton; and four grandchildren, Trevor, Macie, McKenzie and Carson Turgeon.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Ida Dubois Miller.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church in Jennings.
