Burley, John "Jack"

April 5, 1959 - August 10, 2015

John Thomas "Jack" Burley went to be with The Lord on Monday, August 10, 2015 with his wife and family by his side after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on April 5, 1959 to John Dale Burley and Mary Higgins Burley in Norwalk, CT. Jack was very active in, and a huge advocate for, the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed playing golf and volunteering his time to the local competitive swimming community, where he was always happy to donate his strong voice and unique skills as announcer for various local swim meets over the years.

He was proud to be an Aggie, but even more proud to be an Aggie Dad.

Survivors include his wife, Robin Clay Burley; his sons, John Spencer Burley and Robert Clay Burley of College Station; and his daughter, Elizabeth Lorene Burley of Nashville, TN. He also leaves behind two sisters and brothers-in-law, Meg and Jack Minehan, and Lynn and Gary Parker of New York; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Heather and Sam Wooldridge and Caroline and Chris McClain; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Elsie Clay; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary Burley.

There will be a Celebration of Life service at the Pebble Creek Country Club on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 6:00 pm, following a private burial at the Aggie Field of Honor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Kidney Cancer Association or to the College Fund for the Burley children set up at BB&T in College Station.
