Sanderson

Marsha Ann Monroe passed from this life into the loving arms of God on Aug. 4, 2015, after a courageous fight with thyroid cancer. Marsha lived to be a "beacon of God's light" for everyone she met, worked alongside and loved.

Marsha was born March 27, 1952, to Reg and Reba Monroe in Fort Stockton. She grew up in Sanderson, Texas, graduating from high school in 1970. Marsha received her undergraduate degree from Texas A & M in 1974, a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Texas Tech University in 1978, and became licensed to practice law in Texas. She married her husband of 35 years, Gary Hutto, that same year.

Marsha had a family law practice in both Sanderson, Del Rio and surrounding areas. She also owned and operated Lemon's Abstract in Sanderson for the last nine years. Marsha was elected to the office of Terrell County Attorney in 1984, and continued to serve the people of Terrell County in that office until her death. Marsha loved the people in her community and worked to keep Terrell County one of the best counties in which to live and work.

Marsha was preceded in death by her father, Reg Monroe; her brother, Jim Monroe; and her husband, Gary Hutto.

She is survived by her son, Major Calvin Keith Hutto of Alexandria, Virginia; her mother, Reba Monroe of Sanderson; her mother-in-law, Carolyn Hutto of Sanderson; and her aunt, Yankee Sutton of San Saba; along with very special cousins, nephews and nieces.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at First Presbyterian Church of Sanderson with the Reverend Toby Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Sanderson.

Pallbearers will be Roy Deaton, Steve Haynes, Jon Tom Lowrance, Dan Newsome, Ellis Helmers, Tommy Arthur and Wayne Sutton.

The family requests memorials be sent the First Presbyterian Church of Sanderson or the Thrivewell Foundation of San Antonio in lieu of flowers.
