John Newport Greene IV
March 26, 1927 – April 26, 2015

John Newport Greene IV, 88, of Bryan, died peacefully in his sleep on April 26, 2015 surrounded by his loving children. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Hillier Funeral Home, 2301 East 29th Street in Bryan, Texas.

John was born on March 26, 1927 to John Newport Greene II and Evangel Wright in San Antonio, Texas. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University and his Master’s degree from Texas A&M University.

After 35 years of educating students at Allen Military Academy and Bryan ISD, he spent 13 years volunteering in the libraries of Bryan ISD.

He was a 32nd degree Master Mason and a member of Shriner International. His greatest joy came from his wife and family. His second love was golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Ellie Simmons Williams Greene; son, John Newport Greene IV and sister, Nancy Greene Nickel.

John leaves behind his daughters: Francis G. Lambright and husband James, Ellie G. Rust and husband Mark; a son, Bruce S. Greene; a special niece, Mayo W. Dean. He was also blessed with 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
