E. A. Karasek Jr.
5/2/1924 - 11/8/2014

E. A. Karasek Jr.

Born May 2,1924, in Yoakum, Texas, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at the age 90.

Buddy moved to Pearsall at the age of 14.  He graduated from Pearsall High School, attended A&M and was in the Class of 1945 that, instead of graduating, went to war.  Buddy served in the 381st Combat Engineer Battalion, building the first bridge over the Rhine as the Allies advanced.

After the war, Buddy went to Pharmacy school at The University of Texas where he met Francis Powell.  They married after they became licensed Pharmacists, and they continued loving each other for 65 years.

Buddy went to work with his father and then ran Martin Drug Store, filling prescriptions 7 days a week, nights and holidays.  Buddy sold the store in 1994 and occasionally worked as a relief pharmacist between golf games.  Buddy loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and spent countless hours walking the washes of Frio County looking for arrowheads.  He was also known to tell a joke or two.

Buddy is survived by his wife Francis, his son Koerth, & his daughter Kathleen, her husband John Higdon, three grandsons – Forrest & wife Michelle, Ryan and Adam Higdon – and two great granddaughters, Mara and Lacey.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, with a reception at the church immediately following the service. A private family interment will follow at a later date in the Pearsall Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House 4803 Sid Katz Dr, San Antonio, Texas 78229 or First United Methodist Church 507 E San Antonio St Pearsall, Texas 78061.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hurley Funeral Home, 608 E Trinity in Pearsall, Texas 78061 (830) 334-3361.
