William Donald Melton Jr.
William Donald Melton, Jr. (Bill) 61 of Canyon Lake, Texas peacefully went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 28th surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
Bill was born June 10th, 1953 in Chichasha, Oklahoma to Maridell Barnett Melton and William Donald Melton, Sr. His father was serving our country during the Korean War at that time and Bill celebrated his first birthday by arriving in Japan to see him for
the first time. He was an “army brat” and received his early schooling in Fort Benning, Georgia; Ulm, Germany; Mannheim, Germany and Lawton, Oklahoma. He became an Eagle Scout in 9th grade while the family was stationed at Fort Sill. He also enjoyed playing
the drums for the school band at Tomlinson Jr. High and played football. He was a gifted landscape photographer and enjoyed many outdoor activities and gaming. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M in 1975 where he met the love of his
life, Cecilia Burttschell. They were married in College Station on December 23rd, 1978.
His working years were spent in Houston in the “Aggie Work Force”, working for and with former Aggies in positions ranging from management to sales until he felt the call to Christian ministry. He was accepted into Dallas Theological Seminary and attended in
the early 1990’s. Bill’s greatest desire was to bring others to Christ and minister to others.
He selflessly supported his wife Cecilia in her return to school and stood proudly by her when she graduated with honors as a Doctor of Chiropractic. In 2005 Bill and Cecilia moved to New Braunfels to open up their dream practice and became members of Oakwood
Baptist Church. He worked at Cecilia’s side as long as he was able.
The family wants to send a very heartfelt thank you to Gentiva Hospice, Sundance Inn and the Lone Star Parkinson’s Support Group who do so much for so many on so small a budget and for their compassionate care and friendship with Bill and Cecilia. Therefore,
in lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to Gentiva Hospice at www.gentiva.com and the Lone Star Parkinson Society, 614C South Business IH35, PMB51, New Braunfels, Texas 78130.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Cecilia (CeCe) Melton of Canyon Lake, Texas; parents Don and Mary Melton of Killeen; sister Paula Baile and her husband Doug Baile and their children Nick and Kate of Lancaster, PA.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, January 24th, 2015 at Oakwood Baptist Church, 2154 Loop 337 North in New Braunfels, Texas. The family will receive friends in the Student Worship Center after the service. There will be a private burial at
a later date.
