LA FERIA, TX. - 
Edward Martin Ferrero passed away Saturday Jan 17th 2015 peacefully at home in La Feria, TX. He was born on February 25th 1950 in Austin, TX to Martin P. and Nancy N. Ferrero. 
Ed leaves behind his beloved son, Edward Martin Ferrero, II. Other survivors include sisters, Nancy Jo Ferrero of South Padre Island and Patti Mabon of New Braunfels, and his brother, Andrew John Ferrero of San Benito.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers, Jeffery Paul and Matthew Peter Ferrero.
Ed attended St. Anthony Catholic School and graduated from Harlingen High School in 1968. He earned a BA degree in psychology from Texas A&M University in College Station in 1972.
Ed worked for the State of Texas Employment Commission from 1973 until his retirement in 1998. Ed is credited with helping many members of our community find gainful employment.
Ed was an Eagle Scout a member of the Texas A&M century club and was a faithful parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in La Feria, TX
Ed enjoyed taking his 1966 Chevy II on the Hot Rod Power Tours and attending numerous South Texas Car Shows. He was an avid bird hunter and an excellent gardener. In his youth, Ed enjoyed surfing the South Padre Island waves and many venues in Mexico. Ed was a college and professional football and baseball fan.
He is also survived by nephew, Buddy Cavness of Marathon, TX, Amy Hardy of El Paso, TX, Jacqueline Ferrero Williams of Ft Collins, CO, and Erin York of New Braunfels, TX. Ed had three grandnieces and three grand nephews.
Ed had many close friends. Ed will be missed by ones he grew up with, surfing friends and antique car and hot rod collectors. Following are some of them: Terae Harmon, Michael Mitchell, Mike Fitzpatrick, Robby and Dell Medley, Raymond Borjas, Melvin and Sharon Champagne, Jack and Diane Robinson, Pete Barrow, Jim Bradley, Bob Sandlin, James Graham, John Sparks, Howard and Nancy Hecker, Israel Vega, Richard Wolf and Louis Stewart. 
His Band of Brothers from Texas A & M will miss Ed. They include Raymond Gignac, Tom Green, Tim Fisher, Karl Kuehn, John Jamison, Eddie Paris, Ray Dunham, Monte Trenckman, Rocky "Raccoon" Fields, "Gumby" Steve Free, Stanley Kuehn, Fred Fisher, Carlos Cardin, Marshall Bravo and Doug Jowell.
A Rosary service will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 6:30 PM at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home. The rosary will be prayed by Danny Coyle and Erin York.
A memorial mass will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in La Feria.
The family wishes to thank the tender care given by Isabel Diaz, Margarita Perez, Angelita Morado and Gentiva Hospice during Ed's final days.
