James Frank Sousares Jr.
February 27, 1922 - September 23, 2014

Dr. James F. Sousares, Jr., 92, passed away Tuesday, September 23 at his home in College Station.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 26 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with Rev. Luther Shelander officiating. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, September 25, at the funeral home.

Jimmy was born in Plainview, Texas the son of James Frank, Sr. and Ella Roper Sousares. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1946 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Jimmy served our country during WWII, first in the U.S. Army then transferring to the U.S. Navy. He worked in the Veterinary Services with the United States Department of Agriculture and retired after 30 years of service. Jimmy had a love of horses and was a devoted Texas Aggie.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Louise Burton Sousares in January 1975; and his son-in-law, Chester Michalak.

He is survived by his wife, Diana Whiteley Sousares; daughter, Cyndie Michalak; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Earl Pullen all of College Station; step-children Bobby Jenkins and wife Mandy, Dyan Shelander and husband Luther, and Molly Graham and husband Macy all of Rockdale; brother, Ted Sousares, MD of Austin; grandchildren, Alicia Michalak, Greg Michalak and wife Melissa; step-grandchildren, Brandon, Andrew, and Claire Jenkins; and great-grandson, Cooper Michalak.
