Emmett George Boyd
July 25, 1927 - April 26, 2014

EMMETT GEORGE BOYD was born to E. G. and Beatrice Boyd in Memphis, TN July 25, 1927 and passed from this world April 26, 2014 due to ALS Disease. He is survived by his bride of 63 years Shirley Wood Boyd; brother Tony Boyd and wife Peggy; sons Nathan and wife Terri of Dallas; Martin and wife Beth of Knoxville, TN; Nolan and wife Mary of Louisville, KY. George's loving family includes 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. George was a well-known, published nature photographer which activity led George and Shirley to many parts of the world. He enjoyed running around White Rock Lake and ran marathons, including Boston. He made fine custom wood furniture as a hobby. George was a World War II Navy veteran and owner of Batco Company, an international truck trailer parts distributor. Visitation will be Thursday, May 1 at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas from 6-8pm. Private burial will be Friday morning. A Memorial Service will be Friday, May 2 at 4pm at Casa Linda United Methodist Church, 1800 Barnes Bridge Rd, Dallas, TX 75228. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Casa Linda United Methodist Church or The Bathhouse Cultural Center, 521 E. Lawther Dr, Dallas, TX 75218. George will be missed by many. He led a joyful, blessed life.
