Micheal "Mike" Smith 
(September 17, 1942 - June 3, 2014)

Funeral services for Micheal “Mike” Smith, 71, of Gilmer will be held 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at First United Methodist Church in Gilmer with Reverend Dick Dobbins officiating. Interment will follow at Mattox Cemetery under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Mr. Smith passed away on Tuesday June 3, 2014, in Gilmer.

He was born in Gilmer on September 17, 1942, to Louie Garmon and Helen Marie Loyd Smith. Mike was a member of the Gilmer First United Methodist and a member of Gilmer Bethesda Lodge 142 A.F & A.M. He was the Upshur County Tax Assessor-Collector before his retirement.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Melinda Lois Kelly Smith; mother, Helen Smith; sons and daughters-in-law, Micheal Jr.“Mikki” and Kellie Smith, Marcus and Cyndi Smith, Madison and Kikki Smith; brother, David Smith; eleven grandchildren, Hannah, Joseph, Dylan and Katie Smith, Mitchell, Sabrina, Matthew Lucas and Heather Smith, Cade, Cody and Celby Smith; six great grandchildren, Makayla, James, Eric, Secily, Ezra and Kyrstan. He was also survived by his caretaker, Mia Coleman and his two dear friends, Gary and Rose Martin.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, Louie Smith and his son, Matthew Smith.

Pallbearers for his service will be grandsons, Mitchell Smith, Matthew Lucas Smith, Joseph Smith, Dylan Smith, Cody Smith, Cade Smith and Emilio Valle.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 6, at Croley Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M
