Nov. 4, 1944 - Dec. 14, 2013
Services: Thursday, Dec. 19, in J.D. Lee and Sons Funeral Home, Rogersville, with burial in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation: Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the funeral home.
Dr. Drake, 69, Rogersville, was born in Douglas, Ariz., the son of the late Rev. William H. Drake Sr. and Martha Lou (Farmer) Drake, and died in his home.
He married Catherine J. Seman Dec. 17, 1980, in Houston, Texas.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He graduated with a degree in engineering from the University of Houston, and earned his doctorate from Texas A&M. He joined the staff at SMSU as professor of engineering in 1986, and retired
from that position in 2006. Following retirement, he became a certified welding inspector, was a democratic representative for Webster County, was a co-leader, along with his wife, Cathy, in the 4-H Foundation and the Show-Me Adventure 4-H Club. He also volunteered
with the Greene County Safety Council. He enjoyed gardening, working around the yard on his tractor, horseback riding with daughter Shannon, playing solitaire and building fires in the fireplace. But the highlight of his day was when granddaughter Anisa came
home from school.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy; a daughter, Shannon Drake; a granddaughter, Anisa Drake; a sister, Dr. M. Ann Drake; two brothers-in-law, Eddie Seman and his wife, Shige, and George Seman; and many other relatives and friends.
