William Frederick Reichert Jr. was born December 10, 1930 in San Antonio at Baylor Hospital. He was the son of William Frederick Reichert Sr. and Christine Grimmett Reichert. He "entered into larger life" in the presence of family on Friday, November 22, 2013
at approximately 5:15 a.m. at LifeCare Hospitals of San Antonio. Death resulted after a long and valiant recovery after major heart surgery in December of 2012. Bill grew up on Hammond Avenue in San Antonio and graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1948.
He received a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from the A&M College of Texas (now Texas A&M University) in 1952. After marriage to Nanette Keefe in St. Mark's Episcopal Church in 1952, he served in the Korean War as a U.S. Army Signal Corps officer; he
then returned to A&M and earned a M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering in 1955. A Professional Engineer, he worked for City Public Service for over 30 years, primarily in the natural gas engineering and operations divisions, while continuing his service in
the Reserves and National Guard, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Bill was the founding Scoutmaster of Troop 515, where he served as a mentor to hundreds of youth, many of whom attained the rank of Eagle Scout; for his distinguished service, he
was presented Scouting's esteemed Silver Beaver Award. An avid woodworker, Bill was an excellent craftsman who designed his own home with his wife. A Ham radio operator, he also enjoyed square dancing and was a loyal supporter of his alma mater and the San
Antonio A&M Club. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Nanette Reichert. He is survived by his three children: Marianne Reichert of Austin, TX, Charles Louis Reichert of Peoria, IL, and Andrew Douglas Reichert of Georgetown, TX, and
his very dear friend, Betty Mettke. Visitation will be on Monday, November 25, 2013, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at Coker United Methodist Church, 231 E. North Loop
Rd., The Rev. Dr. Barbara Galloway will officiate. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider three of Bill's favorite charities: Boy Scout Troop 515, Guide Dogs of Texas, or the San
Antonio A&M Club.
