Gerald Robert Conn (2LT, US Army), 70, passed away in his home on Sunday, October 6, 2013 surrounded by his adoring family. Jerry, as he was known by family and friends was born on August 3, 1943 in Coleman, Texas to Irene & Orville Birch Conn, Jr. He is preceded
in death by his father and brother, Roger Crowell. He is survived by his loving wife, Dianne, daughters Stephanie Quinn and Carrie Stryker, granddaughter Sierra Stryker, mother Irene Baillie, brother Larry Crowell and his beloved Yorkie, Gypsy.
Jerry grew up in Alice, Texas graduating from Alice High School in 1961. In 1965 Jerry earned a BS in Accounting and a Master's of Computer Science in 1968 both from Texas A&M University. Jerry married the love of his life, Dianne, on July 31, 1965. After graduating
from Texas A&M, Jerry entered the Army and served in Vietnam from 1966-1967. Upon completion of his Master's Degree from Texas A&M in 1969 Jerry took his first job with Bosie Cascade in Boise, Idaho. Jerry loved the mountains where most weekends to he enjoyed
camping, fishing and riding his dirt bike. After leaving Boise Cascade, Jerry took employment with Anderson Clayton in Dallas, TX. Jerry and family lived in the Dallas area fron 1971-1977. Anderson Clayton transferred Jerry to design and implement all computer
operations as Director of MIS in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Jerry remained in Brazil from 1977-1984 where he learned to love everything Brazilian. Looking back at his life, Jerry often commented that the Brazilian years were the best years of his life, but with every
new adventure Jerry said the same thing because he loved life, he loved people and he loved adventure. After returning to the States, the family lived in Houston, TX. After a couple of tries at new jobs Jerry settled in working for Phelps Dodge and was hired
to implement standardized systems on all international operations of the company. Jerry and Dianne moved to Manila, Phillippines from 1991-1993. Jerry loved the lifestyle and the people. Most of all he loved learning to scuba dive and exploring Asia. After
two wonderful years the family returned to Phoenix, AZ where in 1998 he left Phelps Dodge to work for UPS managing the new Logistics Division Supply Chain Solution Systems. Jerry and Dianne moved to Louisville, KY in 2002, where they lived until Jerry retired.
Jerry fulfilled his life-long dream of returning to his home state of Texas. He and Dianne chose Sun City, TX to be their retirement which ended up being the best choice in the world to live and retire with the best frends a person could have. His last five
years spent here have been a joy. His beloved daughters and granddaughter were near by to finish his remaining years with fun, laughter and love. He will be missed by all that knew him for his kind heart and beautiful grin he shared with the world. Jerry could
light up a room with that smile. Before passing Jerry said, "Boy, did we have a wonderful life." He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him, but will live on forever in our hearts and souls.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas with Military Honors.
