Rothe Davis, 80, of Clinton, MS passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013. He was born to the late F.M. and Elvira Rothe Davis, Sr. in Paris, Texas. He graduated from Paris High School in 1950 and as a civil engineer from Texas A&M College in 1954. He was drafted
in January 1955 and served in the 88th Construction Engineering Battalion and the 31st Combat Engineer Battalions until December of 1956.
He worked for the Bureau of Public Roads (later renamed the Federal Highway Administration) from June 1954 until he retired on June 30, 1990. He served twice in their Washington office and in their Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi offices - the
last as Assistant Division Administrator.
He met his wife Patricia Watson while working on the AASHO Road Test. They married in 1959 and were blessed with six wonderful children. He is survived by his wife Patricia; children Robert Davis, his wife Naomi, and their children Darcy, Kent, and Gillian
of Lafayette, CA; Mary Williams, her husband John, and their sons Hunter and Gabriel of Greer, SC; John Davis of Austin, TX; Chris Davis, his wife Penni, and their children Peyton and Jake of Madison, MS; and Louis Davis, his wife Alejandra, and their daughter
Victoria of Ocean Springs, MS. He was preceded in death by his daughter Beth Davis and by his brother F.M. Davis, Jr.
Rothe enjoyed coaching youth soccer; fishing; hunting, jogging, bike riding, and church work at Holy Savior Catholic Church. He was known for helping others including hitchhikers and those with car problems, and for sharing fish he caught. He loved pecan pie,
the Texas Aggies and a sharing a laugh with friends and family.
Services will be held at Holy Savior Catholic Church, Clinton, Mississippi on Monday, October 7. Visitation will be at 9:30 followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00. The burial will be in Hondo, Texas.
