Durward Dale Dickerson
December 16, 1925 - July 30, 2013
Durward Dale Dickerson, better known as "Dick," born December 16, 1925 in Piedmont, Oklahoma to Ella (née Wallace) and George W. "Pete" Dickerson, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2013 at the age of 87 in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Jefferson High School, and proudly served with the Army-Air Corps during WWII. Dick received his BS degree in Civil Engineering at Texas A&M, enjoying a long career as a professional engineer. Dick was a loyal supporter of Aggie football and an avid golfer.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Gene (née Hightower), their children – Donna, Rick, and Sherry Dickerson and Sandi Dickerson Goldner – grandchildren Taylor, Justin, Kyla, and Brandon Dickerson, and great-grandchildren Mia and Josh Dickerson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers George and Wally, nephews Trip and Keith, niece Carole, and grandson Cody.
His family would like to thank the caring staff at Colonial Gardens Memory Care.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM, Sunday, August 4th at Sunset Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held 12 noon, Monday, August 5th at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Sunset Mausoleum II.
