Fred Wayne Mac McDonald
March 14, 1932- July 3, 2013

Fred Wayne McDonald went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2013. He passed away while vacationing with family in Lake City, Colorado. He was in a place he loved, enjoying God's creation and spending time with people he loved. Visitation will be Friday, July 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Nobles Funeral Chapel, Navasota, Texas. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 13 at 10 a.m. at Martins Prairie Missionary Baptist Church, Keith, Texas, with burial immediately following.

Mac was the son of Benjamin Roger McDonald and Zona Hiser McDonald. He was born in The Grove, Texas on March 14, 1932. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Edna Elizabeth "Beth" Trant. They married June 13, 1958. Also preceding him was sister, Ina McGregor Talbert, and brother J.W. McDonald.

He graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors and a Master's degree in Education and was a lifelong educator. Most of his career was spent in Loop I.S.D., Loop, Texas. Throughout his career, he served as a coach, English Teacher, High School Principal, and Superintendent of Schools. After retirement from the school business, he worked for the Texas House of Representatives on the staff of the House Appropriations Chair as the education expert. He was a member of TASA, Texas High School Coaches Association, Keith Civic Club, and was serving as the President of the Grimes County Retired Teachers Association at the time of his passing.

He lived in the Keith community for 25 years. He was a help to all and always ready to lend a hand to anyone and was loved and respected by all. He was a member of the Carlos Coffee Club and so enjoyed the many friends he had. He was an avid Aggie, attending most sporting events faithfully.

He was a member of Martins Prairie Missionary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. He served in various capacities at the church and the cemetery association and was a faithful caretaker of the front cemetery flowers.

He is survived by daughter Cheryl McDonald of College Station, Katherine Martin and husband Wayne Martin of Loudon, N.H. and Donna Caughron and husband Larry of Seguin, Texas. He also was the proud "PawPaw" of six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Gertrude Shaver of Belton, Texas, Jessie Keltner of Waco, Texas, Nelda Schmidt of Moody, Texas and sisters-in-law Millie McDonald of Highland Village, Texas, and June Davis of Anderson, Texas. He leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Memorials may be made to Martins Prairie Baptist Cemetery.

Mr. Fred W. "Mac" McDonald, 81, of Iola, passed away, Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Montrose Memorial Hospital in Montrose, Colorado.
Visitation will be Friday, July 12, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Martins Prairie Missionary Baptist Church in Keith. Interment will follow in Martins Prairie Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Fred was born on March 14, 1932, in The Grove, Texas, the son of Benjamin Roger & Zona Inez (Heiser) McDonald.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy as a Telemon 2nd Class, discharged in 1955 in San Francisco, CA. He was employed as a teacher, coach & administrator for 23 years, finishing his career at Loop ISD in Loop, TX. Fred was a member of the TASA, the Texas High School Coaches Assoc., the Keith Civic Club and the Retired Teachers Assoc. He was also a member of the Martins Prairie Missionary Baptist Church in Keith, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna Elizabeth McDonald; sister, Ina Ruth Talbert; and brother, J.W. McDonald.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl McDonald of College Station; step-daughters, Donna Caugham of Seguin, and Katherine Martin of Clovis, NM; sisters, Gertrude Shaver of Belton, Jessie Keltner of Waco, and Nelda Schmidt of Moody; sisters-in-law, Millie McDonald of Wimberly, Jane Davis and Barbara Trant both of Anderson.
Serving as pallbearers are David Schmidt of Moody, Gary Schmidt of Troy, Kirk Keltner of Waco, Phillip Keltner of Corsicana, David McDonald of Wimberly and Walt Gilbert of McGregor.
