Richard "Rusty" Mills, Jr., 47, of Shiner, Texas passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at his Residence.
Funeral Services are under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner, Texas and will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner, Texas with Reverend John Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow at the Shiner City Cemetery in Shiner, Texas. There will be a Family Visitation Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 5:00 ~ 9:00 PM at the Buffington Funeral Home Chapel.
Rusty was born December 15, 1965 in Floresville, Texas. He was the son of Richard and Betty (Swanner) Mills, Sr. He graduated from Floresville high School in 1984. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Texas A&M in 1988. While attending A&M, he was a member of the A&M Corp Cadets, Company E1. Rusty married Melinda Palmer on November 9, 1991 in Houston, Texas. He was a member of the Shiner Methodist Church in Shiner, Texas. He enjoyed camping so he could hunt and fish, only if he wasn't able to play golf. He loved anything involving A&M (he bled Maroon). He was a member of the Shiner School Board. He loved to cook and BBQ. He was always working on projects and/or helping someone else with their projects. He was always on the go. The family lived in Hong Kong and Singapore from 1995 to 2000 and traveled extensively throughout Asia. His greatest joy was being with his family and socializing with friends.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda and his son, Ian, his parents; Richard and Betty Mills, Sr., two sisters; Lesa Woodlee and her husband, David of Floresville, Texas, Wendy Mills of Floresville, Texas, father and mother-in-law, Kermit and Ann Palmer of Sugarland, Texas, and his grandmother; Emma Bea Mills of Floresville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his grandfather; Horace "LH" Mills and his grandmother; Gertrude Swanner.
Pallbearers will be Jake Jalufka, Stephen Patek, Robert Morkovsky, Gary Peters, John Ploch, Nick Fitzsimon, Rick Dworaczyk, and David Woodlee. Honorry Pallbearers are Mark Williams, Jake Robert Jalufka, John Bean, and Bill Ewing.
