Brock A. Morris
Dr. Brock Allen Morris, 63, entered into the Lord's presence on Aug. 20, 2012, after sudden complications from rheumatoid arthritis. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 305 N. 30th St., where Brock was a long-time
member. A viewing will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Wilkirson-Hatch Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque.
Brock was born in Houston, Texas, on Jan. 13, 1949, to George and Alice Morris. After graduating from Texas A&M University with a degree in zoology, he attended medical school at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Brock married Linda Lane
in 1972. He then completed a residency in psychiatry at UTMB, graduating in 1978. After practicing psychiatry in El Paso for six years, Brock and his family moved to Waco to be closer to the family ranch in Ireland, Texas.
Brock devoted his life to selflessly caring for thousands of Waco residents and will be remembered for his unique personality, his cowboy boots and blue jeans, and the numerous lives that he saved from debilitating psychiatric illnesses.
Other accomplishments include serving as the current president of the University of Texas Psychiatric Alumni Association and being named "Conservationist Ranch of the Year" by the Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Texas.
His other passions included working on projects at his family ranch, including building 10.5 miles of high fence by hand and using the bulldozer to clear endless acres of troublesome cedar trees. All would agree that Brock found the greatest pleasure in spending
time with his family and friends, most especially, his three grandchildren, who called him "Pops."
Brock was preceded in death by his brother, George Morris Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Linda; daughter, Jenny and husband, Leighton Carl; son, Seth Morris and Sherri DePriest; three grandchildren, Miriam, Zechariah, and Judah; parents, George and Alice Morris; brother, Bruce Morris and wife, Charlotte;
sister-in-law, Carol Lane; and multiple nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Alban's Church, 305 N. 30th Street; or The Waco Family Health Center, 1600 Providence Drive, Waco, TX, 76708.
