Robert Eugene King
Robert Eugene King of Trinity, Texas, passed away on the 22nd of June 2012. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on the 22nd of June 1933.
Robert "Bob" received his Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Texas A&M University in 1956. After graduating from A&M, Bob served in active duty in the United States Air Force for five years and as reservist for an additional ten years attaining the rank
of captain. In 1963, he married Jane Harkrider and settled in Houston, Texas until 1994, when they moved to Trinity. They had three children; Sandy Patchin of Sugar Land, Texas, Robert G. King of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Vernon E. King of Jackson, Mississippi.
For the next three decades Bob practiced architecture in Houston in several firms, in private practice and with his late father, Marvin E. King, Jr. He ended his career working as an architect for the University of Houston, Rice University, and finally retiring
from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. In retirement, Bob was an active member of the Association of Former Students at Texas A&M, San Jacinto Alumni Association, the Trinity Chapter of the V.F.W., Trinity First United Methodist Church and
the Lake Jennifer Home Owners Association.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Sandy Patchin, and her husband, Dan of Sugar Land, Texas; sons, Robert G. King, and his wife, Sharon, of Silver Spring, Maryland; and Vernon E. King, of Jackson, Mississippi; grandchildren, Jody Martin of Houston, Texas; Donnie
Martin of College Station, Texas; Michael Martin of Sugar Land, Texas; Amanda and Matthew King of Silver Spring, Maryland; Charlie and Brady King of Jackson, Mississippi; and great-grandchild Link Martin.
The celebration of Bob's life is to be conducted at three o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 27th of June, at the First United Methodist Church, 131 South Elm Street in Trinity. Rev. Tom Kennedy will officiate. Graveside services will be held at twelve
noon on Thursday, the 28th of June at the Woodley Cemetery in Elysian Fields, Texas. In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Bob's memory may be directed to The Association of Former Students at Texas A&M, 505 George Bush Drive, College Station,
