Lee Edward Williams
Services for Lee Edward Williams, 78, Mineola, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at Hainesville Baptist Church, Wood County, with the Revs. Terry Davis, Holland Atchley and Fred Morrow officiating.
Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Wood County, under direction of Lowe Funeral Home, Quitman.
Mr. Williams died Nov. 13, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 23, 1933, in the Hainesville community in Wood County. He was a member of Hainesville Baptist Church. He retired from the Air Force and was a retired Wood County judge. He was a graduate of Quitman High School class of 1951, and Texas A&M
University in 1955 with a BA in agricultural education. He was in the Corps of Cadets and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the USAF on graduation. He served in the USAF as a jet pilot from 1955 to 1975, flying 270 missions in the Vietnam War.
He was a member, deacon and trustee of Hainesville Baptist Church, charter member and chaplain of Wood County Camp of The Gideons International; and long-term member and past president of Quitman Rotary Club in Quitman.
He was preceded in death by parents, Floyd and Audie Williams; wife of 54 years, Sarah Dyess Williams; and daughter, Terri Landon
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Lee Edward "Chip" Williams Jr. and Denise of Magnolia, and David Williams of Longview; brothers, Charles Williams of Tyler, Conley Williams of Mineola and Jerry Williams of Quitman; sister, Doris Spanko of Quitman;
grandchildren, Scott Landon, James Landon, Davey Williams and Allen Williams; and one great-grandchild, Kenna Landon.
Pallbearers will be Ben Hinds, Jimmie Morris, Troy Robinson, Dick Roberts, Al Wheeler and Jim Lee.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
