TSU TMSL Law Student Killed in Car Accident
Houston Police Department officials have confirmed that the student killed in an auto accident last night was 27 year-old Halley Catherine Shaw. TSU spokesperson Eva Pickens has confirmed that Ms. Shaw was a second year law student at Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
Grief counselors are on hand at the University all day today, and the students just completed a prayer vigil a few moments ago. Students arriving today for class are just learning of the tragic accident that took the life of their friend.
Student organizers including the Student Bar Association (Nana Asare, president), the Jewish Student Law Association, and the Christian Legal Society are planning additional events. TSU Counselor Dr. Shayna Lee is available for individual counseling all day today.
TSU’s law school students are also planning to remember Miss Shaw during the university’s homecoming this weekend. They will walk as a group holding pictures and a banner of Miss Shaw. Homecoming parade line-up is at 8 a.m. with the parade beginning at 9.
