"Boe" graduated as Salutatorian from Van High School in Van, Texas. He then attended Texas A&M for two years. In 1940 he moved to Houston and married Lila Dodson on February 15, 1940.
In 1941 he went to work for Humble Oil & Refinery in Baytown, Texas. Boe and Lila both became active members of Memorial Baptist Church in Baytown. He was a Sunday school teacher and served as deacon at Memorial Baptist for many years. He and Lila were also
members of the "Singing Saints" and went on many trips with the group to sing at other churches.
Boe was a longtime member of Goose Creek Masonic Lodge No. 1192 where he served as Grand Master. Additionally, he served as Patron of the Goose Creek Chapter 798 Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Baytown Shrine Club.
While working at Exxon in the instrument department he also taught night courses for many years at Lee College. Boe traveled to Jamaica, El Salvador and Costa Rica to help establish new production plants. During these travels Ramsey developed a great appreciation
for traveling and for bananas.
Ramsey and Lila raised three children – Ramsey Zack, Jr., Gary Gene and Beverly Kay. He loved going on camping vacation trips with his family. His first family camp out was an impromptu stay in the Smoky Mountains in route to Pennsylvania. He couldn't resist
the camping bug and piled up leaves to make a bed on the ground for the family to sleep under the stars. Camping became an annual summer event in places such as Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico and Garner State Park. After retiring from Exxon in 1981, he and
Lila did extensive world-wide travel to Asia, Australia, Alaska and Europe.
