Larry Schuelke
(May 31, 1944 - August 3, 2011)

Larry Schuelke, 67, of Damon, Texas loving husband and father passed away at Matagorda General Hospital on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 31, 1944 in El Campo, Texas to Leonard and Alice (Johs) Schuelke. He graduated from Palacios High School then attended Texas A&M University where he received a BBA in accounting, during his senior year at Texas A&M Larry married his first wife, Marilyn Blum on January 30, 1966, they were married for 30 years; after her passing on March 23, 1996 he retired from Texaco, Inc. after 30 years of service. Later he married Melissa Foraker on June 2, 2007 and resided in Damon.

Funeral services will be held 10:30a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Columbia United Methodist Church in West Columbia with Pastor Patty When-Glowski officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30pm at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Baker Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Jackson, Jimmy Foraker, Ken Burks, Russell Corporan, Burt Goss and Harry Mays; honorary pallbearer will be Martin Coll and Jim McCorkle.

Larry is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Schuelke, his first wife, Marilyn Blum Schuelke, and stepfather, Vernon Wright.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa Schuelke of Damon; daughter, Wendy Schuelke of Austin, sons, Stacy Schuelke of Katy and Nicholas Jost of Damon; mother, Alice Wright of Port Lavaca, sisters, Kay Brown and husband, Les of Port Lavaca and Barbara Woods of San Marcos, sister in law, Patricia Morgan and brother in law, Johnny Foraker, Jr., along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing and raising registered quarter horses, and building and developing along with coaching his ladies fast pitch softball team, which he coached for 15 years. During this time the lady players received over 150 college scholarships to various colleges throughout the United States.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the El Campo Hospice, 1102 N. Mechanic, El Campo, Texas 77437.
