Richard H. Ficker,
69, of Staunton, Illinois passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 10:00 PM at Relias Bonne Eau Hospice Care in Edwardsville, Illinois. He was born on August 14, 1941 in Staunton, Illinois to the Late Mr. & Mrs. William F. Ficker. He married Joyce J. Ondes on June 3, 1967 at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, Illinois and she survives.

 He worked as an Electrical Engineer at Ameren UE in St. Louis, Missouri for over 40 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, Illinois. He graduated from Valparaiso Technical Institute in 1962; he then graduated from Texas A&M in 1966 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.  While attending Texas A&M, Richard was a member of the “Singing Cadets”. He was a Registered Professional Engineer. Locally, Richard was a past Treasurer at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, member of the Staunton Public Library Board, past member of Zion School Board, past member of the Staunton City Zoning Board, and also served as a City Alderman.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ficker of Staunton, IL; 2 sons – Rick (Andrea) Ficker of Staunton, IL, and Mike Ficker of Fort Worth, TX; 1 daughter, Jenn Ficker of Champaign, IL; 3 grandchildren – Dalton, Ashlyn, & Gavin Ficker of Overland Park, KS; 3 sisters – Joan Kapp of Staunton, IL, LaVonne (Marlin) Dustmann of Staunton, IL, and Pat (Joe) Spudich of Staunton, IL; and his beloved dog – “Snowball”. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by 1 brother – William J. Ficker.

Services
Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, Illinois with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. Memorials are suggested to either Zion Lutheran Church of
Staunton, Adopt-a-Pet of Benld, Illinois or to the family.
