Dr. John C. Grammer Jr.
Grammer, Jr., Dr. John C. Dr. John C. Grammer, Jr., a Dallas cardiologist who practiced at St. Paul Hospital for many years, died April 19 at Medical City Hospital, from complications following open heart surgery. He was 85. Raised in Pittsburg and Coleman,
TX., he was the son of John C. Grammer and Elizabeth Miller Grammer. Dr. Grammer was educated at Texas A&M and the University of Texas, prior to entering Southwestern Medical College in Dallas, from which he graduated in 1947. He served as a lieutenant in
the Navy Medical Corps, attached to Marine Corps units, during the Korean war. He retired from medical practice in 2007 at age 82, having been a doctor for 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jessica Turpin Grammer and is survived by two sons, John M. Grammer of Sewanee, TN, and Robert T. Grammer of San Antonio. Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas on April 21. A memorial service is planned at Central
Christian Church in Dallas at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association or a favorite charity.
