Truman Lee Pearce
October 15, 1926 – April 2, 2011
Truman Lee Pearce, 84, of College Station, passed away Saturday evening, April 2, 2011 at the College Station Medical Center in College Station, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday April 5, 2011 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6 at the funeral home with Elvin Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the College Station City Cemetery in College Station.
Truman was born October 15, 1926 in Carthage, Texas to Steve and Minnie Baugh Pearce. Truman graduated from High School in Carthage and enrolled in Texas A&M University to earn a bachelors degree in accounting. Truman like so many others at Texas A&M, left
to serve his country in the United States Army, during World War II. After the war, Truman returned to Texas A&M and received his bachelors degree in Accounting at Texas A&M. He then traveled to Austin, Texas and received his Masters Degree in Accounting from
the University of Texas.
After graduation from the University of Texas at Austin, Truman worked in the accounting department for Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation. In 1953, he married the love of his life, Joy Wilhite. While working for Texas Eastern, Truman and Joy lived in Shreveport
and Houston. After 33 years of service, Truman retired as General Auditor for Texas Eastern Transmission. Truman and his family moved to College Station when Truman accepted a teaching position in the Accounting Department at Texas A&M After two years teaching,
Truman transferred to Texas A&M System's Audit Department until his retirement in 1995.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Marcellus Pearce.
Truman is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joy Wilhite Pearce of College Station; his son, Keven Pearce of College Station; his daughter, Janet Ann Pearce of Carthage; one brother, Steve Pearce, Jr., and one sister Elsie Mays, both of Nashville, Tennessee.
