Tate Phillip Jones
Tate Phillip Jones, 22, of College Station, Texas, formerly of Floydada, Texas, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in College Station. Services will be held Saturday, March 5, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Floydada with Reverend Tim Franks, Derrell
Monday and J. D. Young officiating. Services are under direction of Abilene Funeral Home, Abilene, Texas.
Tate was born Aug. 5, 1988, in Lockney, Texas, to Joe Phillip Jones and Anne Tillman Jones. He was a 2007 graduate of Floydada High School and a senior student studying Agriculture Systems Management at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
Tate's family, friends and faith in God were priorities in his life. He loved playing football. He began with the Tiger League, played linebacker at Floydada High School and avidly supported the Fighting Texas Aggies as part of the 12th man. He enjoyed outdoor
activities, such as camping on the Devils and Lano Rivers and spending time at Lake Amistad. His passion for agriculture was evident through his activities in 4H, FFA, livestock shows and a lifetime of farming. Tate devoted much of his time and energy to his
interest in music. He loved playing his guitar, singing and dancing.
Survivors left to cherish his memory are his parents, Joe and Anne Jones of Floydada; a sister, Jurahee Jones of Rocksprings, Texas; his grandparents, Travis and the late Gladys Jones of Floydada, and Frank and the late Neta Tillman of Junction, Texas; and
numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Tate lives on in the memories of his friends and family.
