Jerome Harold Levy Jr.(1942 - 2011)
Jerome Harold Levy, Jr.
There are few people in the world that are truly loved by all they meet. Jerome was one of those very special people. Jerome "Jerry" "Hoover," "Jr." was born on February 19, 1942, in Houston, the first born son of Cyrelle and Jerome Levy. Though five years
apart, his brother Kenny and he were close friends as well as brothers. Jerome's short battle with lung cancer began on January 7th and unfortunately ended March the 10th.
In 1969, Jerome said he made his best two major life choices?choosing to be a stockbroker and marrying Arlene Schwartz. Jerome is survived by his adoring wife of 41? years, daughter Genene and her husband
Michael Turndorf, daughter Jennifer, grandchildren Max and Lily Turndorf, brother Kenny and wife Sherry Levy, mother-in-law Rosalie Schwartz, brother-in-law Lewis and wife Dee Dee Schwartz, sister in law Ann D. and husband Steve Aston, niece Gillian Levy, nephews
Toby and Danny Schwartz, Aunt Marilyn, Uncle Buddy and cousins.
Jerome and Arlene raised two beautiful daughters, Genene and Jennifer. Jerome was a great daddy, making lunches, taking them to his office on the weekends and attending all dance recitals. He was so proud of all their accomplishments. He was also a very proud
grandfather to Max and Lily and an "appreciative" father-in-law to Michael.
Jerome was in The Corp[s] at Texas A&M and graduated with a BBA. His idea of a perfect weekend was Texas A&M winning over U of Texas. After graduating in 1964 Jerome served in the Air Force Reserves at Ellington Air Force Base
Jerome's breadth of friendship was all-inclusive and spanned a lifetime. His love of sports started early. He played handball for 32 years and then switched to golf in 1987. He played almost every weekend with cherished friends. Jerome looked forward to his
bimonthly poker games. The camaraderie was much higher than the stakes for which they played.
While attending Bellaire High School he became a sports editor to stay front line and center. Jerome transcended his love for sports into the NBA and his role with the Houston Rockets. He was on the statistics team and then scorekeeper for the Rockets since
game 1, which lasted 40 years! He was loved by his fellow NBA comrades on and off the court. He is in their hearts and set a standard they all strove to meet.
Jerome lived with the highest integrity, loyalty and caring for his clients at UBS and for his family and friends. His colleagues spoke of him with the affinity of a cherished family member, remarking that he was generous, frequently willing to be available
and very slow to adapt to computer technology.
Through the years Jerome was very generous volunteering with the Channel 8 Auction, Cherish Our Children International and many other organizations.
Jerome's family wants to thank the doctors and staff at MD Anderson and Memorial Herman Southwest and a very special thanks to Dr. David Rothschild, Carla Heiser, Dr. Roger Spahr, Dr. Rik Kaminsky, Dr. Stephen Kaminsky and the many friends who supported his
daily care.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Cherish Our Children International, P.O. Box 54007, Houston, Texas 77254 or Texas A&M Association of Former Students, 505 George Bush Dr., College Station, Texas 77840.
