Zeb H. Fitzgerald
— Zeb H. Fitzgerald passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 11, 2010.
He was born in 1912 to R.C. Fitzgerald and Bertha Crabb Fitzgerald.
He married Lois Gunn Fitzgerald in 1936. They had two children, William Zeb (Bill) Fitzgerald and Mary Ann Fitzgerald Bell.
In addition to his two children he is survived by his grandchildren Jay Scott Fitzgerald of Austin, Deborah Fitzgerald Fowler of Austin and Emily Ann Herring of Prairie Lea, as well as, three great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and other fond friends
and relatives.
Zeb studied at Texas A&M and earned his bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State Teacher’s College in 1935. He worked for Gulf Oil Corporation for 10 years before moving to San Marcos in 1946 to manage The Hays County Abstract Company, previously headed
by his father. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in San Marcos, and recently enjoyed the status of oldest member. He was a long time member of the San Marcos Rotary Club and active in civic organizations. He loved golf and watching Aggie sports.
He was also an avid reader and enjoyed watching birds, deer and other backyard visitors.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lois, in 2000 after 63 years of marriage.
Zeb was active and worked regularly through the age of 95, and he spent his last few years enjoying his home and family. The family would like to thank Comfort Connection of San Marcos for their loving care and support. Thanks also go out to CTMC Hospice Care
for their wonderful comfort and care. Zeb loved life and will be greatly missed.

Family will receive friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Pennington Funeral Home. A celebration of Zeb's life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec.15 at the First Baptist Church of San Marcos with Reverend Mark Newton officiating. Interment to follow in the
San Marcos City Cemetery, San Marcos.
