Thomas Jones
Thomas Lane Jones, 83, of Fletcher, passed away Wednesday at the John F. Keever Solace Center after a long and courageous battle with cancer, with his loved ones at his side.

He was born and raised in Jayton, Texas, the son of the late Itha Lane Jones and Thomas LeMarcus Jones,
and was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Jones Boyd. He lived in Bryan, Texas prior to moving to Fletcher, N.C.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A & M University, as well as a B.B.A. from Lamar State College of Technology, Lamar, Texas. He was a CPA and a veteran of the United States Navy where he served as a Navy Corpsman. He was active in the Bryan Breakfast Lions Club, and was a member of the Scottish Society of Clan Buchanan International. He was a member of the Fletcher United
Methodist Church of Fletcher, N.C.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine Jones; two sons, Marcus Jones of Fuquay-Varina and Richard Jones of Asheville; one daughter, Laura Schleicher and husband, Randy, of Austin, Texas; one stepson, Scott Davis and wife, Naomi Davis, of Fairview; three granddaughters, Alys Litchfield and husband, David, Stephanie Ellington and husband, Matt; Granddaughter, Jennifer Davis; two grandsons, Tom Schleicher and Cullen Davis; and two great-grandsons, Jayson and Dylan Ellington.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Fletcher United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. at Fletcher United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Stephen Ray, Pastor, Fletcher United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Patty's Chapel Cemetery in Fletcher.
